WAYNE — Officials at William Paterson University have launched a series of monthly meetings for entrepreneurs interested in expanding their networks.
Each gathering will feature a guest speaker who will address a timely topic by sharing insights for business growth.
The first session, on Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m., will include a presentation on “Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property in the Age of AI” by Matthew Sklar, a partner at McCarter & English, a law firm with offices in eight states and in Washington, DC.
The meetups will be on the last Tuesday of each month in the student lounge at the Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business, at 1600 Valley Road.

University officials said the sessions are geared toward aspiring business owners, start-up founders and students.
The initiative is a collaboration among the Center for Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship and Innovation, established by the business college four years ago; the New Jersey Small Business Development Center at the university; and the Passaic County Division of Economic Development.
Sarbjeet Rayat, the director of the entrepreneurship and innovation center, said business leaders will learn from one another at the sessions. “Entrepreneurs thrive when they’re part of a community,” he said. “Our mission is to help bold ideas become real-world solutions that advance profit, people and the planet.”
Pat Lepore, the director of the county Board of Commissioners, said the collaboration is part of a broader effort by the county to boost businesses. “Passaic County is full of entrepreneurial energy,” Lepore said. “We’re proud to support initiatives that connect and empower business owners.”
